It is an electronic game of the multiplayer online battle arena genre, developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It is a free game to play and inspired by the Defense of the Ancients mode of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.

It was released on October 27, 2009 and is a game that consists of strategies, two teams of five players face each other to try to destroy each other's base.

One of the main examples of the game's diversity is the fact that it has several champions, counting almost 150 characters available with the most varied skills, playing styles, appearances and stories.
